  • Samosa: A Samosa is a triangular shaped, fried North Indian snack with a relishing filling of potatoes and onions. The filling can also be made of cheese, noodles or meat. The outer coating is made up of wheat flour which wraps the filling and is fried in ghee or oil. This is an absolutely savoury dish enjoyed with tea as an evening snack. 

  • Masala Dosa: Masala Dosa is the most popular South Indian dish that rules every other South Indian restaurant. It is basically stuffed Dosa which includes two parts, the Dosa, and the stuffing. The Dosa is made up of a batter made from soaked rice and lentils and the filling is made of cooked potatoes with a garnishing of lemon juice, coconut, and several spices. It is served with a delicious sambar dal and chutneys.
  • Biriyani: Biriyani is a mixed dish of rice, vegetables, and meat which is quite famous in the Indian Subcontinent, especially amidst the Muslims.  Biriyani takes different forms in different cuisines, but in South India, especially in Telangana, where rice is a staple food, Biriyani is extremely popular. Vegetarian Biriyani includes potatoes and vegetables whereas non-vegetarian Biriyani includes meat.  Biriyani is best when served with cooked potatoes, salad, and yogurt.

  • Desserts: Indian meals are incomplete without a dessert. India offers a huge variety of desserts or sweets like rasgullas, gulab jamun, laddoos, jalebi, and halvas. Rasgullas are famous in West Bengal and it is made up of milk and sugar. Gulab jamuns are fried balls of milk soaked in sugar syrup. Laddoos are rounded sweets made up of flour and sugar. Jalebis are coil shaped fried sweets. Halva is a dessert which is either made of nuts, or flour.
  • Indian Thali: Indian Thali is a platter that contains the amalgamation of several dishes served together on a platter. It is a combo of rice, curries, lentils, pickles and sweet dish. Indian Thali reflects the actual essence of an Indian cuisine as different dishes come together.

Among everything, the Indian food is what every Indian yearns for when they live in a foreign country, as it reminds them of their origin and the place where they belong.
